Introduction

Whether we realize it or not, we use our joints thousands of times each day. They enable us to walk, sit down, reach for things and perform all sorts of simple actions that most of us take for granted.

But when a joint becomes damaged -- from injury, arthritis or normal wear and tear -- even the slightest movement can cause intense pain. Luckily, there is something you can do about it -- you can see the experts at JointONE.

A division of Orthopaedics Northeast (ONE), JointONE is recognized as one of the top joint replacement teams in the state and one of the top 40 in the nation. Our board-certified orthopaedic surgeons specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of joint disorders, including joint replacements for hips, knees and shoulders. The types of conditions most often treated at JointONE include:

  • Degenerative osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Gouty arthritis
  • Arthritis from fractures
  • Infectious Joint Disease
  • Tumors
  • Hip Fractures

We offer patient education and rehabilitation classes that are conducted by clinical nurse coordinators. For added reassurance before surgery, you may talk to former patients who have had joint replacement surgery about any fears you might have.

Don't let a problem hip, knee or shoulder compromise your active lifestyle. See the joint specialists at JointONE.

Total Joint Replacement

A total joint replacement is a common procedure that helps reduce pain, restore mobility and improve the quality of your life. During joint replacement surgery, your damaged joint is replaced with an artificial joint called a prosthesis. Although a prosthesis can never be the same as a real body joint, it works surprisingly well. It reduces and often eliminates joint pain, provides years of easier movement and allows you to resume daily activities with greater comfort.

Each year at JointONE, we help hundreds of patients who might otherwise be disabled return to active, independent lives following joint replacement surgery.

Meet the team that cares for you

When you need a new hip, knee or shoulder, you want the best care possible. Since 1962, JointONE has established an impressive record of patient care. Today, JointONE is ranked among the 40 top joint replacement teams in the nation.

Our board-certified surgeons have a long history of providing orthopaedic care and pioneering surgical techniques. They are active in the development and research of new artificial joints designed for extended longevity, and they participate in national clinical research on joint replacements. This gives JointONE patients access to the most up-to-date implants and technology available for quicker recovery and longer prosthetic life.

At Orthopaedics Northeast and JointONE, we work together as a team, not as individual orthopaedic practices.

Here you'll find a comprehensive array of medical specialists -- anesthesiologists, surgeons, physiatrists, physical therapists and certified athletic trainers -- all working together to ensure the best possible course of treatment and outcome for each patient.

Whether you need surgery, non-surgical interventions or referral to a different sub-specialist, you can count on ONE to do what's right for you.

The road to recovery

A comprehensive rehabilitation program is usually a part of all JointONE patients' care, whether they have had surgical or non-surgical treatment. We offer a full continuum of care for our patients, including treatment for acute, subacute and chronic conditions, as well as work reconditioning.

Depending on your needs, your individualized rehabilitation program may involve hands-on treatment to improve mobility, instruction in flexibility and strengthening exercises, as well as posture and body mechanics training.

For those having joint replacement surgery, you'll also be instructed in exercises and activity to help protect your new joint.

Throughout the rehabilitation process, your JointONE physician will work closely with physical therapists to monitor your progress and make sure you're getting as much mobility and function back as possible.
